The Original Meters Are Reuniting For A One-Off Jazz Fest Late Night Performance

first_imgThe Meters are funk legends. There’s just no denying that, when Art Neville, George Porter Jr., Leo Nocentelli, and Zigaboo Modeliste get together, the result is pure magic. Fortunately for fans, The Original Meters are reuniting! The funky quartet will hit the newly-renovated Orpheum Theater in New Orleans, LA, on April 22nd, 2016. The performance kicks off the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival season, coming after the very first night of the renowned festival. With this classic lineup throwing it down, there’s no telling just how much fun there is to be had.The Meters have been a funk force since the late 60’s, providing a foundation for the genre for over five decades. The heart of their career brought tunes like “Cissy Strut,” “Hey Pocky A-Way,” and “Look-Ka Py Py.” All four musicians are renowned in their own right, having collaborated with artists like The Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Allen Toussaint and so many more. The show has some extra special hometown significance, as the funky reunion will be held at the historic Orpheum Theater. The classic venue was wrecked during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and has just been reopened after a decade of renovations. Its reopening and hosting of The Original Meters is certainly a point of pride for the city of New Orleans.Tickets for this one-of-a-kind performance go on sale this Friday, January 15th at 10 AM CST, but L4LM is proud to offer an exclusive pre-sale code for fans wishing to buy tickets two days early. Just visit the venue website and use the code ‘CARDOVA,’ which will be active tomorrow, January 13th, at 10 AM CST.Until then, kick back to some “Cissy Strut” and enjoy!Hiiiii ya!last_img read more
