first_imgOther administrative tasks that support overall departmentoperations.Participate in developing department goals, objectives andsystemsActively participate in team and University meetings Build relationships that enhance the reputation of theuniversity and success of our programs.Directs and/or oversees the day-to-day management of thedepartment, including the activities of department employees,manages the department’s budget and proactively enhances andimproves departmental efficiencies.Establishes and directs the attainment of fundraising andparticipation goals through annual programs, Capital Campaigns andspecial projects.Cultivates positive connections through developing contacts,conducting appointments, making campaign prospect visits,requesting donations, recording progress/success, draftingproposals, following-up and ensuring confidentiality.Administers fund development activities and fosters communityand alumni relations by identifying potential supporters, managingfund development efforts and promoting opportunities for plannedgiving.Directs, plans, and executes a variety of programs and/orevents.Directs programmatic (ie. Score 1 for Health) grant initiativesand secures optimal funding.Oversees administrative functions/activitiesMonitors the production of the university alumni directory(examining activity, ensuring deadlines are achieved, examininglayout, providing guidance, negotiating pricing, trouble-shootingproblems, etc.).Ensures effective management of restricted gift accounts(approving disbursements, initiating check requests, producingreports, overseeing the communication with constituents on use offunds, etc.).Manages and oversees the administrative functions of the AlumniAssociation, Alumni Directory and associated activities.Contributes to team effort by performing other duties asneeded/assigned.Represent department and the University favorably and inaccordance with established Core Values and expectations Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or relatedfield. Master or doctoral degree preferred. .Eight years in Higher Education DevelopmentFive years supervisory experience, including directing workflowof professional level staff, goal-setting activities, and processmanagement.Five years of direct fundraising/solicitation experience.Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonalskills required.Demonstrated confidence and experience in public speaking.Must have a working knowledge of laws in fund development.Ability to work in a team environment.Must be able to work effectively and diplomatically with allconstituents: alumni, staff, faculty, students, visitors, anddonors.Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientedessential.Must be self-motivated, self-disciplined, able to tolerateambiguity, demonstrate sense of humor and produce high qualityresults.Requires the ability to set priorities, adapt to changingneeds, meet deadlines, while balancing multiple projects andattaining goals.Effective leadership attributes and demonstrated competence inleading teams to optimal levels of performance and goal attainmentessential.Working knowledge and proficiency in database management.Must have creative ideas and be resourceful in meeting theneeds of constituents.National travel at least 20% of time.
