first_imgPrimary FunctionAssist head coach in coaching student-athletes, implementation andinstruction of game strategy, recruiting prospectivestudent-athletes, monitoring student-athlete academic progress,program organization, managing travel, managing student-athletescholarships and overseeing the discipline, conduct and image ofthe sport program and student-athletes of a major university sportprogram in conjunction with other departmental responsibilities asassigned.Duties and Responsibilities (generally)This is a professional coaching position and all of the duties ofthe position must be conducted in adherence with the policies,rules and regulations of affiliated national, regional and stateintercollegiate athletic associations, the Mid-American conference(or subsequent member conference) and the university.Minimum Required Qualifications for this positionBachelor’s Degree.Minimum of 5 years collegiate coaching experience.Minimum of two years teaching basketball skills, game and trainingstrategies, and progressions.Minimum one year experience with scouting reports, assisting indaily practice, and individual player relationship.Specialty Factors (Additional Required Qualifications)Education and Experience PreferredMaster’s degree.Experience with Sportcode and Synergy software programs.Coaching experience with a Division I, II, or III basketballprogram.Former Division I, II, or III basketball student-athlete.List the knowledge, skills, and abilities critical to theperformance of this position.Ability to communicate with and relate well to student-athletes,coaching and department support staff.Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written andelectronic forms.As a staff member within the Department of IntercollegiateAthletics, you are responsible for knowledge of and compliance withNational Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA ) regulations,both those general in nature and those which apply directly to yourposition’s responsibilities.
